Real presents the “hypermarket of the future” with a huge new supermarket in Krefeld, combined with its own gastronomy area. Real is venturing a revolution here: replacing the old familiar is a supermarket concept with a superlative food and non-food range, gastronomic units with their own production, plus a forward-looking store design with a feel-good ambience. The “Markthalle Krefeld” property also lives up to its name: under the heading “Manufacture of Good Taste”, in addition to fruit and vegetables, there is e.g. a bakery, a butcher’s shop, wine and cheese stands, and an oyster bar, to name just a few of the offerings. Apart from the variety of products and huge price range of similar products in the market hall, the real highlight is the fusion of gastronomy and supermarket under one roof. The “Piazza” in the middle of the supermarket seats more than 100 guests, plus another 70 seats in the adjacent winter garden. The gastronomy is a self-contained area where all products are prepared live and in front of the guests. The extensive food offer can and should be tasted directly on site. The supermarket becomes an experience. For the gastronomic area, the company UBERT received the order to completely furnish a total of five concepts: 1. seafood/ 2. coffee concept with own roastery/ 3. pizza/pasta concept/ 4. sommelier concept/ 5. grill concept. Real strives for the special and extraordinary throughout the property: The coffee concept, for example, roasts its own products and sells freshly brewed coffee. The pizza concept uses a massive, brick-built pizza oven that is unparalleled in design and size. The grill concept is an impressive freestander with an edge length of over 20 meters. In total, UBERT realized almost 120m of outputs and rear installations for the gastronomy area of the market hall. As usual, UBERT delivered everything from one source. The special challenge for our company was the relatively short time between release and completion date, which could not be postponed under any circumstances. In addition, our performance was under special observation, since the market hall is a pilot project for Real, which is to be considered as a benchmark for future market expansions at other locations.
